Haris Abadi Abdul Rahim

Haris Abadi Abdul Rahim holds a Masters degree in Fine Art & Technology from Mara University of Technology (UiTM). He hails from the East Coast state of Kelantan, where cultural heritage and traditional activities are still preserved in its own unique way. Despite this, the artist’s calling has been towards new media and sculpture.

His interests in animation and motion graphics drew him to study the traditional elements of traditional shadow puppetry, and Haris has incorporated elements from this field, such as the Pohon Beringin (tree of life) into his new media works. He is considered one of the Malaysian emerging artists that deal comfortably with digital technology in producing artworks.


Masnoor Ramli Mahmud

Masnoor Ramli Mahmud was born in 1968, recieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from UiTM Shah Alam in 1991. He had held 4 solo show from 2007 toward 2014, nameky Bumi Manusia, Petronas Gallery in 2007, Bumi Manusia : Revisited at Penang State Art Gallery, Penang and the fairly Recent at Whitebox Publika, Kuala Lumpur in 2014.

Dr.Sharmiza Abu Hassan

Sharmiza Abu Hassan was born in Taiping, Perak, in the year 1972. She is a sculptor and Installlation artist. She is currently a teaching staff at the Faculty of Art and Design in UiTM Shah Alam. She recieved her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from UiTM, and a Master in Creati Art from the University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. Her works are mostly related toward histories, legends, cultural stories of the Malays and subjects regarding the daily universal life, with a contemporary approach. in 2016, she was involved with Shah Alam and Singapore Bienalle.

Datuk Mohd. Yaman Hj. Ahmad Mus

Allahyarham Mohammed Yaman Hj. Ahmad Mus was born in Putatan, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 29th November 1938, and passed away on the 28th December of 2010 at the age of 72. He was the Director of  Sabah State Art Gallery, and was also the patron of its development since the early 1980s. He established the Sabah Art Gallery which was placed under the administration of the Sabah Sports and Cultural Board and temporarily a resident at one of the Sabah Museum’s buildings, he also designed and constructed special mural for the Wisma Sime Darby (K.L.) He is someone who is passionated toward the arts.

Throughout 1954 to 1957 he was actively involved in the production of cartoons alongside comic strips, he also made illustrations and delved into paintings. Among the cartoon and comic works created are “Pa Lang”, “Adventure of Tom”. “The Group of Three” and so on. Among his many talent, Datuk Mohd Yaman was  also a writer, whom  writing were published under the pen name of “AHMMADONY”, EMWAI SABAH” and.M.Y.  Throughout this period, he also became a founding member of AGABA, a cultural organization, headed by Mr Donald Stephens (Tun Mohd.Fuad Stephens) and Sabah Literary Association. Mohammed Yaman Hj. Ahmad Mus was respected leader, artist and writer whom  had contributed greatly to the Sabah  art scene.

Ismail Zain

Ismail Zain was an artist from Kodiang, Kedah, born in 1930. He recieved his education from the Malayan Teacher Training College, Kirby, England, before going to Ravensbourne College of Art, England in 1964, an Slade School of Fine Art, London in 1966.

He was the first local to be appointed as the Director of the National Art Gallery(1972-1975), followed by the Director of Culture in the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports (1975-1982), and Director of FINAS from (1982 -1985). Ismail Zain passed away on August, 1991 at the age of 61. In his memory, Petronas Gallery had hosted an exhibition called AlKaseh in 2016.

 

Sand T Kalloch

Sand T Kalloch earned her MFA, Honorary BFA and DipFA from the SMFA at Tufts University in Boston, and her DipFA from Malaysian Institute of Art. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally including 22 art fairs. Her work can be found in permanent art collections worldwide with the most recent acquisitions by the National Visual Arts Gallery, Le Nouvel at KLCC, and Dr. Steve Wong in Malaysia. Working with her art representative, TAKSU Galleries, Sand T has recently completed a large scale commissioned project entitled “Thousand Springs” in September 2017. This extensive wall installation is comprised of 80 panels that span over 70 meters. It will be permanently installed at Marina One in Singapore.
