Tan Tong graduated from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts (ENSBA) in Paris, 1968. He was the head Registrar, a senior lecturer in Malaysian Institute of Art before becoming a full time artist. His main visual language in his works are bright colors and defined forms. Since the 1960, Tan had admired the works of the 20th century artist, such as Pablo Picasso. And such, he had studied and referred the works of Picasso, to create his own simplistic style. among his drawings, are the combination of feelings and logics, shining with the atmosphere of beauty. His colors, shapes were created as if to showcase freshness, brightness and harmonious, entertaining the eyes.
